Collecting vintage football memorabilia: an introduction from Joe and Jacob

This blog will capture examples from our extensive collection of rare and unique American football memorabilia. We'd like to share and bring to life the collection that we've worked on for the past 10-15 years. Many of the items to be discussed are from the days in which football was just taking shape in the late 19th century - a time in which the game was more similar to rugby than how football is played today. We'll use our collection to provide a feel for the accomplishments of some of the greatest football legends to ever lace 'em up, including some of the best known college and professional football hall of famers. We'll also provide examples from players and coaches who are lesser known but had a significant impact on football during its infancy.

The purpose of this blog is two-fold. We wish to spread awareness about the early days of college and professional football and also elicit interest in collecting truly vintage sports memorabilia from a time of yore. It's a passion that takes great patience, an ability and desire to research, and a respect and curiosity for the origins of the game. As anyone in the hobby could tell you, there's nothing quite like collecting old football.

We hope you take something away from our blog. Thanks for stopping by.
